When Does Weather Affect Our Swim Season?
Two weather events cause practice delays or cancellation: Lightning (sighted or possibly near) and/or hard rain. If a lightning strike is seen, or if thundering is loud overhead, practice will be called for about 30 minutes. Coaches will take the swimmers to the pavilion to wait. Light rain without lightning is no problem; hard rain that prevents a swimmer from seeing the bottom of the pool will cause practice delays or cancellation.
Used Fin Sale!
How about getting some quality used fins for only $10? The Steiner Stars is organizing a used fin sale just like we did at the end of the Stars season last year (which was a big success). If you are interested in buying or selling fins in GOOD condition (no rips, cracks, bends, etc. - name written on the fins is ok) for $10,
this LINK will take you there.
Sellers will enter their information and the fin size for sale. Buyers can "claim" fins by putting their name in the Buyer Name column. Then it's up to the buyer to get in contact with the seller to finalize the sale. This is all first-come, first-served and is updated in real time! Anyone with this link can access and edit the spreadsheet, so please don't modify anyone else's entry.
Buyers: Check the link often if you don't find your size right away. Sellers will frequently add fins for sale.

WEATHER ALERT
With the possibility of inclement weather this week, you will be notified via email and FaceBook if practice is cancelled. Coach Kay or Coach Jon will call practice off if bad weather occurs during practice. We will send out notification if this happens as well. If you have not received a cancelation notice that means practice is still on!

Red: Begins May 7.
Red will practice after school on Monday and Wednesday afternoons by age group from 3:30 - 7:30 PM. Each age group practices for about one hour per practice day. Summer practices are held Tuesday - Friday mornings and run from June 5 - July 6.
Blue: Begins May 8.
Blue will practice after school on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons by age group from 3:30 p.m - 7:30 p.m. Each age group practices for about one hour per practice day. Summer practices are held Monday - Thursday afternoons and run from June 4 - July 5.
Both the teams swim an average of 6 swim meets per season. Meets are held on Saturday mornings, with the exception of the Red vs Blue meet which will be held on a Thursday evening. Meets are early morning events, with swimmers needing to report to the meet at an early hour, i.e. around 6:00 AM. Meets are held so early because most teams must vacate their pools for public use by the early afternoon.
